The Music Man

This Blog is updated each Tuesday.

Is it raining where you are? I am loving the rain on the tin roof! We are on a a few day rest after being on the road since May. Praise God for doing nothing!!!

I am just here pondering what God wants us to do next and where exactly God wants us to go. I feel like God is calling us away from a few things so that we can pour our hearts into something beautiful. Learning patience is not an easy thing.
What is God teaching you?

I saw these quotes on Justin Childer's blog and thought I would share.

"Nobody is ever envious of others who is not first proud of himself."

"Before we can begin to see the cross as something done
for us, we have to see it as something done by us."

Do you realize the depth of your sin and pride? I think our society calls sin a flaw and elevate ourselves above others. We blame others for our own insecurities. The problem is that people are not meant to meet our needs. People are not meant to control how we feel. We all let it happen when we take our eyes off of the glorious gift of Christ and worship our neighbor. If they don't meet your needs or make you feel good about yourself, cut them some slack. They are not meant to. Who are you looking at to meet your needs today?

So, my husband and I had an anniversary on the 9th. We were at camp and in the middle of no where. We ate at a converted fish house called The Hen House. It was "interesting." I don't think I can tell you the story on this public forum. So, feel free to ask me.

The Denbigh and I took a few days this past week and saw some Texas sights. We went through some adorable towns with adorable boutiques!! I will be highlighting them on my blog in the next few weeks.

One of my favorite things we did was go to the Granbury historic district. The town is about 30 minutes south of Fort Worth.

We saw The Music Man at the oldest opera house in Texas. (My grandmother took me there as a child.) We also ate at the Nutshell. I had a fabulous sandwich I am going to try to reproduce here soon. Denbigh had the John Wilkes Booth burger. The folks in Granbury say JWB wasn't killed, but escaped after he killed Lincoln and came down to Granbury. True or not, it's a fun story and a fine burger!

The town was voted to have one of the best downtown squares in the US. If you'd like a great weekend getaway, I highly recommend it. Stay at the Nutt House- the downtown hotel.

Crucifiction
vs
Crucifixion

One might suppose that this common misspelling was a product of skepticism were it not for the fact that it most often occurs in the writings of believers. The word should make clear that Jesus was affixed to the cross, not imply that his killing is regarded as a fiction.

Contest winners coming next week. This week we are giving away a Starbucks giftcard. Leave a comment or email or enter.
