Food: Home Slice Pizza - Austin, Texas

Image
My two beloved family members love pizza . . . alot. I decided to surprise them and take them to Home Slice. We had quite a bit of fun. The pizza was delicious. This is no Dominos or Pizza Hut. Fresh ingredients comprise superior crust and sauce. They even wrapped up our leftover piece of pizza as a foil swan. Try it. Seriously. http://www.homeslicepizza.com/ I want this shirt (size small, Denbigh). ©stephaniecherry.com

Food: Jack Allen's Kitchen

Image
If you are looking for an excellent date place, Jack Allen's is a hot spot. It's rustic elegance makes it a perfect Texas experience. Sitting under the covered patio was quite comfortable, even in July. The service was befitting the atmosphere of laid back hospitality. All around, it was exquisite.  Now, what you really want to know. What did I eat?  Chicken Nachitos Slow roasted chicken, black beans, American cheese, cotija cheese and house pickled jalapeno. The black beans and cotija cheese  on these made me melt. 13 Spiced Chicken Pasta Red pepper linguini, spinach linguini, fresh jalapenos, chipotle cream and cotija cheese. The pasta was perfectly spiced and the raw jalapenos were divine. Dive in if you like a little spice. Lastly, I had a chocolate mousse topped with ganache and garnished with a slim praline. It would be worth going for all on it's own. Fabulous. Oh my! I will be seeing you again, Jack Allen . ©stephaniecherry.com

Come in from the Cold

Image
This Blog is updated each Tuesday. I love the song Come In From the Cold by Marc Broussard . It has made it to my current playlist with Lizz Wright, Mrs.  McCracken , and Ben Harper. Each time I hear those words, "come in from the cold," I feel my spirit longingly say 'okay' . . . even though it's 102 degrees outside. Do you ever feel like that? Perhaps you have been spiritually or emotionally out in the elements just a little too long and you are desperate to come inside to a warm, accepting fire and a cup of hot tea.  The clouds are like a sea of draping  chiffon dancing across the sky as I contemplate this thought. This has been the year of my undoing. Pride has been eaten up by deep gratitude. A new will to live has been issued. Creativity has taken over and quiet reflective prayer has become a refuge. Bread baked. Acrylic met the canvas. Tiny dress hand stitched. Love issued with depth and intention. Life . When I was younger I would wander around   Dabo...

The Big Five

Image
This Blog is updated each Tuesday. Early this morning I was sitting on my bed with my beloved daughter who is now a beautiful 6 month old. She is playing with her pony that Shelley brought her back from Wyoming (because every girl needs a pony). I am reading. I glance at her and a huge amount of white foam is coming out of her mouth! I start freaking out thinking my first born is having a seizure. She had stuck her hand in her mouth (chewing it) so far that she made herself start throwing up! I still have not recovered from this moment. I just turned white writing out the story. Keep us in your prayers this week. We are off to Carolina Creek to lead worship and then I am speaking at Camp Tejas for River of Life Community Church. I know I won't make it through my talks without singing that childhood song atleast once. Sing it with me: "I've got a river life flowing out of me It makes the lame to walk and the blind to see Opens prison doors and sets the captive free I've...
