Terribly Interesting

What about Heaven is a sweet little book written by Kathleen Bostram and illustrated by Elana Kucharik, illustrator of Care Bears. The author gives a simple directive to how we get to heaven and what we will be doing when we arrive there. This is a cute first book to begin leading your children to the only way to heaven, Jesus Christ. As soon as I got this book out of the package from the publisher, my five year old ran off with it. She had read it several times by the time I found her and had her read it to me. She thought the drawings were adorable and liked the rhyming text. I agreed with her. It is a great addition to any pre-school library. 

As the mom of three girls five and under, I never know what each day will hold. Some days I can manage to fly through my house and accomplish great things. Some days I don't so much as get my washcloths folded. I just try to keep my girls from getting into everything so that Denbigh can work on things. He has almost finished the kitchen floor. What a glorious thing! We had to take a break and hit the road for a few days to lead worship. I'm signing off with this short blurb so I can squeeze in some r&r before all my children are up again. First, let me tell you that the word tramp to someone in Holland has a far different connotation that it does in America. A tramp was a person who traveled around looking for food and employment. The word is kin to hobo or bum. I think this would be the Dutch version of how Brennan Manning referred to himself as a "ragamuffin." She did this because she traveled far and wide after the war seeking to serve God in whatever way she possibly could.  I read Corrie's first book, The Hiding Place, in eight grade and her experiences during the Holocaust have spoken to me since. That story led me to start reading her other numerous works. I think without reading these other books I would have assumed that her story was all about what happened to her in the concentration camp. Hello Friends of Gomer, how are you? We are enjoying our two week old baby girl and doing some nesting since we did not get to do it all summer. I am cleaning along and removing some old paint when I can. Denbigh has been working on the kitchen floor. We have also been entertaining guests that come to visit our new born.  Here is the underlayment that is under the cork floor. You can't tell, but it is a thick piece of cushy foam. It's funny what excites you when you have been walking around on dingy plywood for a long time. This excited me. I stepped on it and thought I was living in the lap of luxury. It is cushy, friends. Press on in grace. Of course you don't want to condone sinful actions toward you or your family. You must stay calm and redirect it with honor and grace. Honor everyone around you regardless of their lack of kindness. Remind yourself of the man who was forgiven a great debt by a ruler and then went and imprisoned the man who owed him little. The ruler called the man who had been forgiven a huge debt the wicked one. In his wickedness, he refused to forgive as he had been forgiven. Extend your pardon to others.
