Where's Gomer?

Image
This past week has been full of life. We have had visitors every day and are looking forward to more at the end of the week. We have a secret project going on that will be revealed soon.  The birds are singing here and we are full of a anticipatory hope of all that will come here this year. Over three hundred people have come this past year. It's really mind boggling for us to think of what all God has done and who He has brought here. When we moved out to the middle of nowhere, I never expected to see anyone at our house again. God has lavished us with opportunities to disciple and befriend. The people here are beautiful. We are hoping to start a church and fill it with people who long to be missionaries here and bring in those who desperately need the love of God. Look for more about this next week. It is a indescribable gift to us when people come here to work and volunteer. We are free to feed and visit with the people in our area who need the lavish love of God. Thank ...

Speak Softly and Vlog

Image
My friend Suzi is thinking about starting a Vlog. We were discussing this over a phenomenal lunch. I have thought about doing a Vlog. I just have a few problems. I look goofy on camera and I sound like a cartoon. I think it would be fun though. Maybe it would be like Julia Child. Her unique look and sound made her a foodie icon. Perhaps I do have a story to be verbally told. I think my four year old could have her own vlog. She talks more in a day than I do all year. You may think I am exaggerating, but it's true. If I were going to explore or implore you to something via video, I think it would be a desperate plea to be grateful for what you have. Live in the moment. Cook and welcome friends and strangers. Love and be thankful. Complaining steals joy and rudely rips passion away from expressive hearts. Perhaps, I should learn to be thankful for my soft voice and speak on or vlog on as you will. Love what you got.

Don't let hardship avert your eyes from Me. Meet My tender gaze. You belong to Me, beloved.I have love for you like I have for My own Son. Attempt to wrap your mind and heart around that. Believe in My love. Faith is a gift I give to those who ask for it. Becoming convinced of something will never get you to the desired place. My word says you believe what you do not see. You do that because I have given you vision. Go and wash the mud from your eyes.  "He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some   mud   and put it on my   eye s. He told me to go to Siloam and   wash . So I went and   wash ed, and then I could see.” -John 9:11 For more on this segment, see this post .

The Final Summit by Andy Andrews

Image
We follow David Ponder as he is taken on a journey to the final summit to help mankind find it's original purpose. There are two words that the group must find in order to set humanity back onto the path that was laid out for it. We follow David to his meeting with powerful men and women of history as they try to find they answer they seek. The Final Summit is Andy Andrews follow up to The Traveler's Gift . I have not yet had the joy of reading the first book, but it did not stop me from being able to follow this story. I had mixed feelings about this book. I felt like it was a bit far fetched and at sometimes too silly. No matter what i thought as I read along, I couldn't put it down. I wanted to know what would come of the end of all the dialogue. The historical sketches that were laid out as basis for different answers to the questions were fascinating. Many things I did not know. At the end of it all I was satisfied with humanity's answer and wished to tell it to...

Gomer: Gilbert of the Fields

Image
One Saturday I saw a man working his way up our street picking up pecans. I thought he may have had permission until he made his way into our yard. I honestly wasn't sure if he was homeless or confused. So I went and got my husband to check on him. Here is a reason I love my husband: He did not scold the man for stealing our pecans. He invited him to eat lunch with us. Gilbert feasted on 2 Hamburgers, a hot dog, a grapefruit that he had Denbigh cut up for him, two glasses of tea, and a glass of water. I was pretty impressed. He was a small, 87 year old man. Gilbert spent over an hour telling Denbigh wild stories about being a migrant worker when he was younger and other things that I cannot repeat here on this blog. Denbigh shared with him about the love of God and what we were doing with this house. Though his English was broken, his belly was full. I thanked God for the opportunity to feed Him and I rehearsed Isaiah 58:10 in my mind. "Give them what you have to sustain you...

Common Saints

Image
Do you ever see those people in restaurants that never talk to each other. They are probably married and have been doing the same routine so long that they no longer have anything to say to each other. Maybe they come out to the same place on the same night each week. Perhaps they are even excited about it, but then they hardly utter a word. We all get stuck in ruts. I read that some of the ways to keep your mind healthy is to keep it producing new synapses. That means we have to try new things. If we want to stave of dementia, we must be adventurous. This led me to taking different routes to and from where I am going. It led me to leave the familiar and cook and eat out at the unknown. Do new things . . . with different people. I try to eat at a restaurant I have never been to a few times a month. I snap pictures the whole time I am there and drive my company mad. I have discovered something beautiful though as I peruse and blog. Reliving stories helps us to gather truths. It helps ...

I am the source of life. There is only one way home to Me and that is through Jesus Christ. Don't fall for the lie that you are being overly critical that there are not other ways. There are no other ways. Seek out Truth. Defend Truth. Cling to Truth. I want you home with Me. Remember what I did. Recall what I said. Restate how I healed. Hold fast to that truth through the harshest of adversity. Then ask Me to do it again. Ask Me to provide again. Ask Me to heal again. Ask Me to deliver again. I want to glorify Myself in every aspect of your life. You have no need to try to fix these things yourself. Your small faith in my great power is beautiful.  "[  For the choir director: A psalm of David, asking God to remember him.  ] Please, God, rescue me!Come quickly, Lord, and help me." Psalm 70:1 Come back to only listening to My voice. For more on this segment, see this post .
